Arts Appreciation

I took over from the very capable hands of Ron Cansfield with some trepidation but have really enjoyed looking at and learning about the wide range of genres that we cover. The group meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 11am at the Conservative Club. The meetings are quite informal - we usually start with coffee. To give us structure, we work loosely through the alphabet and our subjects have included, for example, a sculpture installation of horses in Berlin, Roman funerary portraits on Egyptian mummies, Japanese kimonos, the gardens of Gertrude Jekyll, items of Moorcroft pottery and the paintings of Frieda Kahlo.
